In the heart of the Combrailles, the sculptor Rufino creates a park where sculptures carved into the rock represent human or animal figures to raise awareness of the messages of Tolerance, Respect and the fight against indifference.

Description

The sculpture park (9 ha), located in the middle of the forest at the foot of the Morge, has been in the process of being created since 2012. Starting from a private initiative of the sculptor Rufino, this project integrates into the local tourist network of the country of Combrailles. It values the natural environment by seeking the right balance between nature and the representation of human or animal nature. While walking at your own pace on small dirt roads, totaling about 2.6 km (park adjacent to the GR300), you can see several sculptures or groups of sculptures. You will thus discover the themes dear to the sculptor who wishes, beyond physical appearances and human suffering (disability, abuse, discrimination,...), to deliver a message of TOLERANCE, love, respect and wisdom; messages sculpted for a few hundred years.

The 9 hectare park, located in the middle of the forest, at the foot of the La Morge stream, offers both a cultural and artistic heritage site as well as a place for walks in an exceptional natural setting on the edge of the Parc des Volcans d' Auvergne. Apart from major tourist flows, this site remains natural (without major developments which distort the place). The natural shapes of the rocks are worked. Attendance is controlled and allows for enriching exchanges and meetings with the sculptor who loves to tell and explain.

Born in Spain in 1949, Rufino discovered at a young age the transformation of matter in his father's forge. At 18, as the eldest and to help his family, he arrived in Clermont-Ferrand in 1968 to work at Michelin. Attracted since his childhood by nature, it was while traveling through the forests of Auvergne that he discovered the roots and began to sculpt. This is the revelation.
Distinguished for his talent, with more than a hundred national exhibitions and international fairs, he obtains numerous first prizes for sculptures and systematically the public prize. Rave reviews position
Rufino as a “naturalist” seeking in every way to “magnify the work of nature”.
With no less than 300 sculptures; roots, sculptures in stone or iron, earth or plaster, a project grows in his mind. And it is with obviousness and maturity that once retired, Rufino decides to do everything to
bring his project to life and realize his artist's dream: a park of monumental sculptures surrounded by nature, today named “Les Rochers de Rufino”.
