Starting from Charensat, the 41km Combrailles Lakes Hike typically takes 3 days and offers a peaceful walk through a wild landscape dotted with lakes.

    Boucle du Pays de Menat

    Starting from Servant, the Boucle du Pays de Menat is a 6-day hike that showcases the magnificent landscapes of the Sioule gorges, its rich architectural heritage, and the surrounding countryside, with volcanoes as a backdrop. This 124 km hike is divided into 6 stages, each with an average elevation gain of 200 to 300 metres.

      Boucle des Dômes

      The Boucle des Dômes runs along the edge of the Combrailles and partly overlaps with it. This magnificent 62km hike offers the opportunity to discover the Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage site, by crossing through part of it and admiring it from the outside

      There are restrictions in the Chaîne des Puys, including a ban on bivouacking on the slopes or summits of the volcanoes, as well as restrictions concerning pastures and plants.

      GR 4 - Montfermy

      Le GR 4 “De l’Atlantique à la Provence”

      It links Grasse in the Alpes-Maritimes to Royan in the Charente-Maritime. It runs for 50 km through the southern Combrailles between Chapdes-Beaufort and La Celle d’Auvergne, taking in the Montfermy waterfall, the Fades-Besserve lake and the village of Miremont.

      Le GR 300 : Chemin Saint-Michel

      It links Le Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire) to Ébreuil in the Allier. It runs for 35km through the eastern Combrailles between Yssac-la-Tourette and Saint-Quintin-sur-Sioule, taking in the petrifying springs of Gimeaux and the Priory of Saint-Hilaire-la-Croix.

      Le GR 89 : Chemin de Montaigne

      This walking itinerary retraces part of the route taken by Michel Eyquem de Montaigne, the humanist philosopher, on his journey from Rome to Bordeaux in 1581. It crosses the southern Combrailles between Pontgibaud and La Celle d’Auvergne over 50 km and takes in the medieval town of Pontgibaud (12th-century Château Dauphin) and the Sioulet Gorges at Pontaumur.

      Le GR 441 : Le Tour des Volcans d’Auvergne

      This 114km walking trail starts in Volvic and winds its way through the volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys. It crosses the south-east of the Combrailles between Saint-Pierre-le-Chastel and Pontgibaud over a distance of around ten kilometres, taking in the Saint-Pierre-le-Chastel hillock and the Tournebise and Pontgibaud shepherds’ huts.
